DiceMate: Dice Chess

Privacy Policy

Effective 14 October 2026. Applies to DiceMate: Dice Chess for iPhone and its widgets.

The short version

1. Who we are

DiceMate: Dice Chess ("DiceMate", "we") is made by an independent developer, who is the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us at claudiutigaroi@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

When you open DiceMate, it signs you in with an anonymous account: a random ID, with no name or email attached. Everything below is linked to that account ID and used only to run the game.

Technical dataLike every internet service, our hosting provider processes your IP address and request details (time, endpoint, app version) to deliver responses, prevent abuse and keep short security logs.Security and reliability. Not used to identify or profile you.

DiceMate has no chat. In games you can only send preset emotes. The only free text you can type is your username, display name and room names, which pass a name filter.

3. What stays on your iPhone

World Tour progress, puzzles, Pass & Play games, your settings and the language you chose are saved on your iPhone. A small summary (today's Daily Roll, your streak, your current match) is shared with the DiceMate widgets on the same iPhone. Some of this progress (your XP total) is also copied to your account so it is not lost. Deleting the app removes the local data.

4. What we do not collect

5. Why we use it (and our legal bases)

We use your data only to provide DiceMate: online matches, ratings, leaderboards, friends, rooms, progress and cosmetics. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, this is necessary to provide the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b)). Preventing cheating and abuse, handling reports and keeping security logs rely on our legitimate interest in a safe, fair game (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions with legal effects, and we never sell or "share" it as defined by US state privacy laws.

6. What other players see

Opponents played by the computer, such as the World Tour champions, are always labelled AI and never pose as people.

7. Apple services

8. Where it is stored

Our backend runs on Supabase, in its West EU (Ireland) region, hosted on Amazon Web Services. Supabase processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. If Supabase or its sub-processors access data from outside the European Economic Area, this is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Data travels encrypted (HTTPS).

9. How long we keep it

10. Deleting your data

In the app: open Settings, scroll to the data section and tap Delete my account, then confirm. Your account, username, profile, friends, blocks, online games (including their moves), ratings, rating history, Daily Roll scores, Pips, Shop items stored with the account, achievements and notices are deleted from our servers at once and for good, and the app starts over on this iPhone.

Purchases stay with your Apple Account and can be restored. If you cannot use the app, email claudiutigaroi@gmail.com with your username and we will delete the account for you. Delete my local progress in Settings clears only what is on this iPhone.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, or US states such as California), you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent. You can change your username, display name and country in the app at any time, and delete everything with Delete my account. For anything else, email claudiutigaroi@gmail.com; we answer within one month. You may also complain to your data-protection authority. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.

12. Children

DiceMate is a general-audience board game rated 9+. It has no ads, no tracking, no chat (only preset emotes), and no loot boxes, and nothing we collect is used for marketing. We do not ask for age and do not knowingly collect more data from children than described above. If you are under the age at which you can consent on your own in your country (13 to 16 depending on the country), please ask a parent before playing online. Parents can delete a child's account in the app or by emailing us.

13. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. On the server, players can read only what the game needs to show them; every change goes through checks on the server, room passwords are stored only as hashes, and the dice of online games are issued by the server so nobody can choose them. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you and the authorities about a breach where the law requires.

14. Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app. Questions or requests: claudiutigaroi@gmail.com.
