Reelcast is built to be private by design. We have no user accounts, we run no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not collect or sell your personal data. This policy explains the little data the app does use, and why.
If you grant location access, Reelcast uses your location on your device to compute the solunar feeding windows for your spot. To show weather, pressure and (for coastal spots) tides, the app sends the coordinates of the spot you are viewing to the weather providers below. Your location is not stored on our servers (we have none) and is never sold or shared for advertising. The core solunar forecast also works offline.
Weather and pressure forecasts come from Apple Weather (WeatherKit) and, when it is unavailable, from Open-Meteo.com. Tides, sea temperature and waves come from the Open-Meteo Marine API. To return a forecast, the app sends the spot's coordinates, rounded to about 1 km, to these services; no name, account or device identifier is sent. Apple's handling is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy; Open-Meteo's by its terms and privacy policy. Tides are modelled forecasts and are not for navigation.
When you search for a place or drop a pin on the map, the search text or coordinates are sent to Apple Maps to find the place and its name, under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Spots you save and the catches you log (including any photos and the captured conditions) are stored only on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. Share cards are created on your device and leave it only if you choose to share them.
Reelcast Pro is available as an auto-renewable subscription (weekly or yearly) or as a one-time lifetime purchase, all handled entirely by Apple via the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple may share aggregate, non-identifying purchase information with us through App Store Connect.
Bite-window alerts and the optional free-trial reminder are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. Widgets and Siri / Shortcuts answers are computed on your device from the spot you last viewed. No notification, widget or Siri data leaves your device.
Reelcast is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
